Rangers’ Scottish Cup opponents Partick Thistle have released a surprise statement ahead of their trip to Ibrox this weekend.
The Firhill side are set to take a bumper crowd to Ibrox with the club revealing that there are only 350 tickets remaining of the 2600 Ibrox allocation given to the side.
That means around 2300 Jags are set to take the subway trip to Ibrox for the Sunday afternoon clash and it promises to be a good atmosphere ahead of the Scottish Cup tie.
Rangers and Partick Thistle have had sizeably different fortunes in recent seasons with the last competitive meeting between the two sides coming back in the Scottish Premiership in 2018.
Rangers won that game 2-0 courtesy of goals from Josh Windass and James Tavernier and now Championship outfit Partick Thistle will be looking to test themselves at Ibrox.
Partick Thistle hope for Rangers Scottish Cup sell-out
The Maryhill club have released a statement online encouraging their supporters to snap up the remaining tickets and make the Partick Thistle trip to Rangers a Scottish Cup tie to remember.
The statement reads:
“350 tickets remaining! Tickets for this Sunday’s game against Rangers in the Scottish Cup will be back on sale for a final day tomorrow.
“The Firhill ticket office will be open 1pm-4pm and any tickets bought must be collected by closing time.”
Partick Thistle also took to their official website to plug the match, encouraging supporters to fill their full allocation as Rangers look to welcome them in the Scottish Cup.
Kudos to the Partick Thistle support; whilst Rangers remain heavy favourites our Glasgow rivals deserve credit for finding the numbers to fill out their section of the ground.
Whilst it is just a short hop across the city, the club’s support would put plenty in the Premiership to blame as Ian McCall’s men look to put up a fight against Michael Beale’s Rangers.
Meanwhile, the Rangers support have risen to the League Cup Final ocassion.
