One-time reported Rangers target Kevin Nisbet has stepped up his return from injury with a stunning Hibs hattrick against Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership.
The Scotland international striker, 25, has seen the last year or so of his career disrupted by a serious cruciate ligament issue sustained in a clash between Celtic and Hibs last February.
Making a scoring return to the Hibs team in the club’s clash with Rangers earlier in the month, a rusty Kevin Nisbet has begun working his way back into fitness and form at Easter Road.
Having started the last five matches for Hibs, the striker made it five from five with the three goals against Motherwell adding to another strike added against Livingston.
Rangers-linked Kevin Nisbet nets Hibs hattrick
Three times the striker popped up in the Motherwell box and three times the striker put the ball away with the first a neat left-footed finish into the bottom corner to put Hibs ahead at Fir Park.
Nisbet would then be in the right place to roll the ball into an empty net at the back post after a long-ball over the top split the Well defence.
The third – a finely taken first time finish on his right foot inside the box – came after Motherwell had pulled one back through Stuart McKinstry with Ross Tierney also scoring in injury time.
The result marks a major milestone in the recovery of Kevin Nisbet, who might’ve been turning out for Rangers had Steven Gerrard potentially had his way last season.

According to reports, the former Rangers boss was interested in signing Nisbet in the summer of 2021 but the deal never materialised for whatever reason.
The striker has been valued at £4m by the Daily Mail and we suspect that if he continues to find the back of the net then more links to Rangers won’t be too far away as the striker steps up his injury recovery.
Meanwhile, Rangers have reportedly taken a decision on the short-term future of one under-fire Ibrox star.
