Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has been rattled by Rangers boss Michael Beale as the “lucky” Aussie lets slip with yet more comments after the Parkhead side’s win over Dundee United.
The Gers boss poked the ex-Socceroos manager after taking over at Ibrox by suggesting that the Australian coach had been “lucky” with the transfer budget at his disposal at Parkhead.
Celtic have spent the bones of £40m since Postecoglou has come into the club last summer and the Rangers manager was referring to the relative wealth of spending the Parkhead boss has at his disposal.
But despite the fact this has already played out in the media earlier in January, the cantankerous old biddy has once again been fuelling the fire following the Parkhead side’s 2-0 win over Dundee United.
Speaking after the match about Aaron Mooy, who was a free transfer in the summer, Ange Postecoglou had something of a post-match Freudian slip as his attempt at a subtle jibe instead offered an insight into the rattled mind of the Aussie manager.
“He has been great since the break,” Postecoglou said.
“I am the least surprised about that.
“It’s one of these things in football that it literally landed at my doorstep. I knew what I was getting. Maybe you can use that term, ‘I’m a lucky man’.”

Couple all of this with Rangers manager Michael Beale subtlety jibing Celtic’s pathetic VAR groans – led largely by Ange Postecoglou himself – and it’s good to see a bit of bite return between the Old Firm managers.
But with Michael Beale painting something of a composed picture in the Rangers dugout, it is clear the Ibrox manager has got under the skin of Celtic counterpart Ange Postecoglou and he’ll be chuckling away quietly at Auchenhowie this week.
The Ibrox boss clearly has the upper hand in the mind games stakes and over the next few months he’ll be hoping that develops on the pitch too.
Rangers are a side in resurgent form under the ex-Ibrox assistant and something tells us Celtic’s dark arts will be out in full force in the run up to the League Cup Final at Hampden.
Rangers have also been handed a major boost when it comes to Ianis Hagi and that visit to Glasgow’s Mount Florida.
