Michael Beale has pointed to a potential disconnect with Ross Wilson over interest in Morgan Whittaker as ex-Rangers defender and Swansea boss Russell Martin makes an Ibrox bid claim.
There is scrutiny on Ibrox director Ross Wilson after two underwhelming transfer windows which have led to the club falling behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership rankings.

Five of the club’s summer singings are currently laid up with injury whilst there are several players in the squad underperforming or also on the treatment table.
Factor all this in with the fact Giovanni van Bronckhorst was sacked, that Michael Beale was brought in and that sporting director Ross Wilson is yet to confirm a deal this January, and the pressure is on at Rangers.
The Gers won’t be helped by apparent interest in Swansea attacker Morgan Whittaker being played out in the public discourse and Michael Beale responded to questions on the player after the win over Kilmarnock.
Michael Beale in Morgan Whittaker bid confusion
Claiming that Whittaker was one of the best players at League One level during a loan with Plymouth in the first half of the season, the latest from Michael Beale does suggest that Rangers are interested.
But the Ibrox manager was caught on the hop by reporters referring to comments by Swansea boss Russell Martin regarding a rejected Ibrox bid.
“We have rejected an offer from them, that’s it,” Martin said, with a BBC report claiming the Gers have fallen well short of the Welsh side’s valuation.
However, Michael Beale claims that any official bid is news to him, something which points to a disconnect with Ross Wilson at the top of the club, unless of course Russell Martin hasn’t got his facts straight.
“Did he really [referring to Russell Martin’s claims of a Rangers bid]?” Michael Beale said [Rangers].
“I didn’t know we had made a bid but I will talk about the player. They have recalled him for a reason.
“I would say that he was one of the better if not the best player in League One in the first half of the season and unless they have recalled him to play him, they must have recalled him to move him to a higher level.
“I think he is a good player but there is nothing more than that. And that is not what I have been told in-house.”
It’s added a little bit of confusion surrounding potential Michael Beale and Rangers interest in Morgan Whittaker and let’s see how any pursuit of the 22-year-old progresses in the coming days.
Rangers are yet to officially sign any new players this January despite claims earlier in the window that the club could move for up to four new stars.
Rangers manager Michael Beale has also been talking about the need to sign Scottish-based players.
