Former prolific Rangers goalscorer, Mark Hateley, has praised Alfredo Morelos, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.
The powerful forward is closing in on a major milestone. He’s just one away from the 30-goal mark for the season, a number only a select few Gers forwards have ever posted. Hateley himself, Derek Johnstone, Ally McCoist, Marco Negri, and most recently, Kris Boyd.

It’s a number, which, mainly because of his ill-discipline, he’s been stuck on since 16th March.
His disciplinary record has been a matter of great debate this season, but Hateley prefers to focus on the more positive aspects of the Colombian’s game.
“He is still only 22, but he is moving up a level every season he plays,” said Hateley, as quoted by
“He has come from South America to Europe to forge a career in the game and has done extremely well for himself.
“Hopefully Alfredo will have learned and taken a lot from this season. Whether we will get the benefit of that learning, or someone else does, we will have to wait and see. But he will be a top player because he has got everything about him.
“He has got that edge and his style, where you can knock the ball into him and make things for himself, that teams like. He can play that European style as well so there will be a lot of interest in him.”

Verdict
There’s no doubting that Morelos is an outstanding talent. At times, this season, he’s shown himself to be far too good for opposition SPL defences.
At 22, he’s still several years away from the traditional peak of a forward’s career. In time, he should mature and hopefully shed the bad boy image he has right now.
Yet, it remains to be seen whether or not he will get the chance to reach the 30-goal mark at the weekend. His ambitions to achieve that and to win the inaugural Tartan Ball could be influenced by a big Steven Gerrard decision.
