Rangers loanee Malik Tillman has provided an update on his future – with the Bayern talent insisting it’s up to the two clubs to strike a deal.

Ibrox director Ross Wilson was praised for managing to negotiate a summer move for the highly-rated 20-year-old attacking midfielder, who played seven times for the Bundesliga giants last season.

Rangers have reportedly structured an exclusive loan with option-to-buy for the German-born USA international with fan media Four Lads Had a Dream previously hinting that a permanent move could cost £5m.

What’s more, Bayern are said to retain a buyback clause in the player’s contract which – if anything – proves that this kid is highly-rated at one of the biggest clubs in the game.

Malik Tillman coy on future as Rangers urged to talk with Bayern

Speaking after Rangers’ 2-1 Viaplay Cup semi-final victory over Bayern Munich, the Ibrox star was clear that the situation regarding his future is out of his hands.

Malik Tillman claims there has been “nothing” regarding a deal as things stand and insists that any decision will come down to discussions between Rangers and Bayern.

“There’s nothing yet, it depends on the club and also Bayern,” said Malik Tillman.

“They have to communicate first then we’ll see. It depends on the clubs, not me.

Malik Tillman turning heads at Rangers

Having settled into life in Scotland, Malik Tillman has been one of the shining lights of this season and has helped to soften the blow after Joe Aribo departed for Premier League Southampton.

Whilst the 20-year-old hasn’t always been consistent, there have been more than enough flashes of quality there to show how good a player the kid is and most Rangers fans are already sold on a future deal.

There have been grumbles about work-rate but it’s clear this kid had something and Rangers would do well to get on the blower to Bayern and thrash out the particulars of the Malik Tillman deal.

But something tells us that’s a conversation to come at the end of the season and let’s hope it results in a positive outcome for all parties.

Tillman has five goals and four assists in 19 Scottish Premiership matches this season, with the midfielder having six strikes and five assists in 30 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, one apparent Rangers target was once valued at £50m amid Premier League interest.
