Ibrox has undergone a major renovation ahead of Rangers’ Champions League clash with Malmo with all catering kiosks now officially cashless.
The Gers have invested heavily into making Ibrox a modern football stadium and this is the latest step for supporters as the club takes a leap into the 21st century.
Obviously, it is hugely important for this message to get out to fans who will be in attendance so they are prepared to tap with their cards ahead of the match.
According to the ticket information section of the Rangers website:
“Please note, that as per terms and conditions, reprints are not available in advance.
“Car parking is available in the Albion Car Park as first come, first served, priced at £10 per car.
“Turnstiles will open at 18:15 and supporters are encouraged to arrive early to the stadium. Please note, kiosks will be open for food and beverages. However, supporters should note that all kiosks are now cashless.
“Please pay by card/contactless.”
This move comes after Rangers struck a partnership with Sporting Pay back in March 2020 – around the same time there was 50k fans back inside Ibrox.
The move to cashless inside Ibrox has been in the pipeline for 17 months but due to the pandemic, the club have been unable to properly utilise it.
According to the Rangers website, plans to install fully cashless kiosks were originally set to be complete by the 2019/20 season with the Sandy Jardine stand using them prior to lockdown.
“We’re delighted to be working with Rangers to introduce card payments throughout Ibrox stadium,” said Chris Norminton, Sporting Pay Managing Director.
“We are really looking forward to working with the club throughout this project. We wish the Club, players and supporters the best of luck for the seasons ahead.”
Rangers are set to welcome Malmo FF at Ibrox in front of a full-house tonight with the Swedish Champions also stumbling this weekend.
