Rangers fans have rallied in support of their squad after the club’s players took the knee, made a stand against racism and participated in the Black Lives Matter protest.
The Ibrox club have shown solidarity with their black players as the movement sweeps the globe and continues the conversation about the racism which is still so prevalent in our society.
Rangers – like any other football club – have a minority faction who did not take kindly to this and rather tragically it had Connor Goldson appealing to the better judgement of fans on Instagram.
Much of the resistance to the BLM protest appears to be steeped in conspiracy and rarely considers the feelings of those black people who’re involved.
After all, showing solidarity and support to this historically vilified group is the main point of the entire protest.
It is utterly intolerable that anyone should be made to feel less of a person because of the colour of their skin, in Ibrox, or anywhere else.
This is the team that these supporters claim to love, the side they cheer on every week, the players they idolise, asking for support.
Perhaps the best thing to come from this – aside from continuing to raise the awareness of racism in society – is how quickly the very vocal minority have been stamped out by the club’s true fans.
For too long, ordinary Gers fans have been silenced by the bellowing voice of those who intimidate rather than seek to conversate or understand.
This is a continuing embarrassment for Rangers, for Scottish football, and for every single fan of the club all over the world.
To ignore the behaviour of these people would be to delude ourselves to the issue of racism which remains hugely prevalent in both football and society.
Rangers, the support and anyone connected to the club must take a stand in stamping this out and letting every player, no matter their colour, know they have our full backing.

There’s also something to be said about those morosely indulging in any racism to further their own prejudice against Rangers.
Misrepresenting an entire group of people is the foundation of the issue which has our black players determined to make a stand.
There has been a plethora of fake accounts pertaining to be Rangers fans spouting extreme views for attention and to try hammer home false stereotypes.
Rangers fans everywhere must continue to call out racism where they see it, with the club’s players now more than ever needing the backing of the monumental Ibrox support.
