Kenny Miller blasts Rangers for mistreating 'one of their best players'

Kenny Miller has hit out at Rangers over their treatment of Lee Wallace, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.
Miller was a senior player at Ibrox and Wallace the club captain, before an alleged altercation with Graeme Murty after the 2018 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic. Despite subsequently winning an appeal against their internal disciplinary punishments, the player’s were seemingly deemed unpickable.
Now Partick Thistle striker, Miller, was released when his deal expired at the end of that campaign. With a season remaining on his contract, Wallace stayed on. Yet, despite his pedigree as a full-back, he only made substitute appearances last term.

Despite a change in management team last summer, Miller feels the club still held a grudge against his former teammate.
“I don’t know how things went, but I don’t think many would have felt Lee Wallace wasn’t good enough to play for that team,” he said, as quoted by the Glasgow Evening Times.

“I’ve absolutely no doubt he should have been playing in that team last year. I believe he should have been playing because not only do I believe he was the best left-back, I believe he was one of their best players. I believe the team could have been better with the influence he has got.”

Verdict

There’s no doubt left-back was a problem area at times last season. Borna Barisic, Jon Flanagan and Andy Halliday shared the berth.
Given that situation, it was bizarre that a proven and natural left-back was still being left out in the cold.
We don’t know exactly what was said to Graeme Murty that day. Yet, you have to feel that considering he was such a fantastic servant to the club, Wallace was hard done by.
He’s no longer a Ger, but he does have a chance to start afresh at a high standard. He’ll be turning out for another Rangers – QPR – in the Championship next season.
