Kemar Roofe can still be a massive player for Rangers – if he can get fit.

The 30-year old only played 148 minutes for the club this season and still managed two goals, only one behind Ryan Kent.

After a season ending hip operation, Kemar Roofe is looking in good shape to return for pre-season like the proverbial new signing for Rangers.

Posting on his Instagram account, the Jamaica international is seen getting put through his paces and it isn’t just a selection of balance or stretching exercises.

Roofe looks like he is doing end stage strength and proprioception work as the intensity of his rehabilitation gets ramped up over the next few weeks.

Already running, increasing his strength and fitness will be key for a potential return in four weeks time.

Is Kemar Roofe on schedule for pre-season Rangers return?

Speaking after confirming that Kemar Roofe was going under the knife, Michael Beale was confident that Rangers will see him back soon:

“I will add on that, Kemar Roofe has had a minor operation, he will be back for pre-season as well.

“The decision was taken that, with a short amount of league games left, that it is better to get these boys ready for the new campaign and they will be important players for us, come pre-season, for sure.”

The Gers gaffer was also speaking about Tom Lawrence and, when you look at Rangers biggest problem this season, not taking chances, it’s clear to see how much they were missed.

The pair contributed five goals and two assists in 750 minutes of football, the sort of clinical quality that was absent for most of the season.

As with Ryan Jack, who seems to be over the worst of his chronic issues, if Rangers can get Roofe available for even 75% of our games then we will be in a good place.

There is a reason Rangers reportedly paid £4.5m for his services three seasons ago, hopefully, we see why in 2023/24.
