Rangers fans have had to wait to see summer signing Juninho Bacuna in action and he once again twiddling their thumbs as the club took on Livingston in the League Cup.

That’s after Ibrox gaffer Steven Gerrard had claimed pre-match that new opportunities for the Dutch-born Curacao international are “imminent”.

But whilst the player still awaits his full debut in Rangers colours, the Gers faithful got their second glimpse of the versatile midfielder in the second half of the League Cup clash.

This comes after his 15-minute stint in the 1-1 draw with Motherwell at the weekend.

The 2-0 victory over the Lions was obviously a much better result and whilst Bacuna didn’t get much time, one moment did leave an impression on supporters.

With the ball in the middle of the pitch, a confident Juninho picked it up and whipped an expert pass into the onrushing James Tavernier.

It wasn’t much, but it was something and gives fans a glimpse of the ability the former Huddersfield and Groningen midfielder possesses:

Rangers signed Bacuna late in the transfer window after the player had spent the last three seasons at Huddersfield Town.

Now in the English Championship, Bacuna was signed when the club was in the Premier League as a 21-year-old with high hopes for his impact in England.

Things haven’t quite worked out with the Terriers but now Bacuna will get the chance to play on the front foot with an expectant Rangers side.

The Huddersfield chairman has also been discussing details of the deal and suggested Rangers have yet to pay any transfer fee for the midfielder.
