Rangers skipper James Tavernier has spoken to RangersTV about Jake Hastie and Greg Stewart.
Both players have been spotted wearing Gers colours for the first time this week, as they joined up with their new teammates for pre-season.
The skipper is excited by the transfer activity around the club. However, he’s had to do a little bit of his own research on ex-Motherwell winger, Hastie.
“I have played against both Greg Stewart and Jake Hastie,” Tavernier told RangersTV. “I know Jake had a good spell when he broke onto the scene at Motherwell and I have seen some clips of him, he is a strong runner and has a good finish on him.”
“I have played against Greg a lot of times and he has always proven to be a difficult opponent. I am really happy we have secured him.”

Verdict
That Tavernier’s main knowledge of Hastie is from video clips, shows he’s still a relatively unknown quantity in Scottish football.
He may have been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award, but he only made a total of 17 SPL appearances for ‘Well before securing his move.
Playing against Hastie would have given Tav some idea of his attributes. However, they lined up on opposite flanks during the Gers’ 3-0 win at Fir Park in April and youngster was away on loan both times the two clubs met earlier in the season.

Tavernier is clearly impressed by what he’s seen, though.
As for Stewart, he’s a much more established talent. He’s the kind of creative player you would much rather have in your team than in the opposition.
