Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been tipped to be in the running for the England job in the not-so-distant future following his sacking from Aston Villa.
The former Three Lions captain was relieved of his duties at Villa Park after a 3-0 defeat to Fulham last week with the Villains squad roaring back against Brentford this weekend.
Immortalised at Rangers for winning 55, the sacking also comes at a time when Ibrox replacement Giovanni van Bronckhorst feels the pressure in Glasgow.
Another difficult job is that of England manager and after a downturn in form post-Euro 2020, Gareth Southgate is a man under increasing pressure.

Steven Gerrard is an iconic figure in England footballing history and whilst he might not go down as favourite, the former Rangers boss could be in the running should Southgate move on after the World Cup.
At least that’s according to former England striker Darren Bent, who made the comments on TalkSPORT.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if he was one of the candidates for the England job next,” said Bent.
“I’m not saying that he should get it, but you know what the FA are like. They like people who have been in the system before.
“He’s obviously played for England and he’s very much a company man, isn’t he?
“It wouldn’t surprise me. I just think that he could be one, certainly.”
We’re not convinced England fans would embrace Steven Gerrard as their next manager nor are we sure that the Scouser would take the job given it can be something of a poisoned chalice at times.
The pressure is intense as England manager and given the remarkable depth of quality in other nations around the globe, our UK neighbours are usually setting unrealistic expectations at every tournament.
