Following the confirmation that he has agreed a permanent long-term deal at Rangers, Ianis Hagi predicts he will thrive on the pressure of playing at Ibrox next season [RangersTV].

The Romania international already has a taste of life as a Ger, having turned out 12 times whilst on loan from Genk over the second half of the 2019/20 season.

The global health crisis cut his loan stint short in terms of game-time, but Ross Wilson and co. saw enough to convince them that he would be a major asset to the squad in the long-term.

Hagi knows he has improvements to make but thinks he and the team will perform well next season.

“It is not just the support they [the Rangers fans] give us, but also the pressure they put on us,” Hagi told RangersTV.

“Me personally, I just love it and gives me the adrenaline of just going day-in and day-out to train 100 per-cent, come into the games 100 per-cent and give everything I have on the field, so it has just taught me how you live for football.

“It is perfect. I just can’t wait to meet them again and just feel that heartbeat again when I score or when the team wins. I can’t wait for amazing things to happen this season.”

Verdict

Many Rangers fans were extremely excited by the announcement of Hagi’s permanent signing and it seems the player himself is also over the moon.

He claimed that he turned down interest from elsewhere to seal this transfer [Rangers.co.uk] and his comments here suggest he is fully aware of the high-standards Gers supporters demand from their team.

It’s nine years since the club won a major trophy and going into his third season, Steven Gerrard will be under major pressure to stop the rot.

Hagi will need plenty of assistance from his teammates and any more potential new recruits, but he’s a gamechanger and a good addition to the ranks.
