During Friday afternoon’s press conference, as captured by RangersTV, Steven Gerrard assessed the club’s dealings in the January transfer window.
He explained the the club are aiming to achieve a balance with their signings. Older, more experienced players, as well as young talent, available on good deals.
One who belongs to the latter group, is Matt Polster.

He was officially confirmed as a Rangers player on Wednesday.
As a 25-year-old full USA international, with 83 MLS appearances, he isn’t totally inexperienced.
Yet, he is a newcomer to British football.
“He’s another one for the future”, said the manager, via RangersTV.
“To get a player of Matt’s level in for nothing, it’s a no brainer for us. It makes financial sense. He’s another good player coming into the squad and he can play in numerous positions.”

While that all sounds quite exciting, Gerrard’s next comments suggest it’ll be a while before he makes his first appearance.
“He’s on a different stage of the season to most, he’s on an off season, because he’s from the MLS. He’ll be a couple of weeks before he gets up to speed, then I’m sure he’ll be ready for a debut”, he concluded.
While we may have to wait a while longer, it’s clear the manager sees him as a someone who will play a role towards the back end of the season.
His versatility is likely to be an asset, while perhaps, he can finally take a bit of the heat off the skipper.
