Steven Gerrard has told the club’s website about special measures to get two new signings up to speed.
January provides a great opportunity for club’s to strengthen mid-season, but it does provide challenges for player integration, post-transfer.
No such luxuries exist in January, and players are often thrown straight in at the deep end.
Polster and Kamara doubling up
Steven Gerrard made it clear last week, that no such immediate impact would be asked of Matt Polster or Glen Kamara.
For different reasons, both players are currently short of match fitness.
Until now, Polster plied his trade in the MLS. It’s currently their off-season right now, so 25-year-old is some way off full fitness.
Yet, it’s clear that Rangers aren’t just waiting about for their new acquisitions to build up sharpness.
“We did know it would take the new boys three or four weeks to get up to speed”, Gerrard told the club’s website, when initially referring to Jermain Defoe and Steven Davis.
“It is a similar situation now with Glen Kamara and Matt Polster. We will push them, they are doing a double session today to try to add more volume into them”, he concluded.
This can only be good news for Rangers fans.
The quicker these guys are ready, the more competition for places. That should naturally help to increase performance levels.
Aside from that, supporters are eager to see what these two individuals can offer the club going forward.
Rest assured, it certainly seems as though Stevie isn’t letting either player rest on their laurels!
