Rangers-linked Luca Kerber has broken his silence on links away from FC Saarbrücken as the likes of Brighton and FC Lorient reportedly express an interest.

The 20-year-old midfielder has been on impressive form in the German third tier and as a result has been reportedly piquing the interest of clubs across Europe.

German outlet BILD named Rangers as a potentially interested party, whilst Premier League Brighton present an interesting option alongside Ligue 1 Lorient.

Whilst Rangers fans won’t welcome any Lars Kerber competition, the fact Brighton have been linked is a major thumbs up for the player given the Seagulls’ recent track record with transfers.

All the sounds appear to suggest that given Luca Kerber is in the final 18 months of his contract that the player is available for around £1.5m or €2m.

Given Rangers boss Michael Beale has previously suggested that midfield is an area the Ibrox side are looking to invest in this January, it makes the links all the more interesting.

But after a successful season so far with FC Saarbrücken, Luca Kerber has broken his silence on the links out of the club and whilst he’s flattered, the player is fully focused on earning promotion to the German second tier.

“I want to move up to the 2nd division with my heart’s club Saarbrücken and I still have a lot of plans for the future with the club,” said Kerber.

“I see good development opportunities for me at FCS, especially under the new coach Rüdiger Ziehl, who is giving me really good support.”

A tidy looking composed midfielder with the ability to carry the ball and see a progressive pass, Luca Kerber has made 15 appearances in Liga 3 this season, scoring one goal and laying on two assists.

Saarbrücken are currently second in the German third tier, occupying an automatic promotion berth.

Talking of Rangers transfers, the club are also being linked with a move for a South American defender.
