George Edmundson wants Rangers European experiences to continue

One of Rangers’ many summer signings, George Edmundson, has spoken to the Scottish Herald about the club’s and his personal Europa League ambitions.
The Gers signed the 21-year-old defender from EFL League Two outfit Oldham Athletic last month, and he’s made a positive start to his time at Ibrox.

He’s started both of the club’s home Europa League qualifiers, against St Joseph’s and Progres Niederkorn. Facing slightly stronger opposition second time round, he looked solid.
Going forward, he wants to keep hold of his spot and help the club into the competition proper.

“It is a big game for us on Thursday and it is not over”, Edmundson told the Scottish Herald. “We will go over there and hopefully we finish the job and get through.”
“The lads keep going on about Rapid Vienna and how good it was because the place was bouncing. I want a taste of that and I want to get to the group stages.
“The lads always go on about the likes of Villarreal and Rapid and say what it was like on those nights. They just want a repeat of that this season if we can.”

George Edmundson wants Rangers berth

It’s clear from these comments that Edmundson wants to be in the thick of things in Europe. That’s despite the considerable competition he faces for a spot.
Connor Goldson, Filip Helander and Nikola Katic are the club’s other central defenders. You would think the former two players will form the first-choice defensive partnership.
With late arrival Helander yet to make his competitive debut, though, Edmundson has made the most of his early run in the side.
There’ll be much tougher challenges ahead, particularly if the Gers make the group stages once again. It’s a case of so far so good for the Englishman, though, and he’ll be hoping for another start in Luxembourg on Thursday.
