Rangers hero Fashion Sakala claims his village back home in Zambia will be tuning into the League Cup Final with Celtic this weekend.

The popular and likeable Ibrox attacker has been making a few headlines this week as he previews the showpiece Hampden event ahead of the weekend.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game, Fashion Sakala was asked if any of his family or friends from Zambia were going to make the Final.

Whilst this unfortunately won’t be the case, the Zambia international claims that there will still be plenty of eyes on the match with the people of the player’s village of Chizimati tuning in to every single game.

Fashion Sakala: my village in Zambia cheer for Rangers

“They watch every game on Rangers TV,” Sakala said [Rangers].

“Most of the time before the game I have a FaceTime call with people in my village and we talk.

“They are preparing to watch the game and it’s making them more excited to be happy and know they are watching a boy from the village where I was born.

“They always say it would take years for a player from there to come and play in Europe but there is nothing impossible, as we believe.

“They are very proud of me.”

The 25-year-old attacker was a constant thorn in the Parkhead club’s side during their recent visit and 2-2 draw at Ibrox and the club’s supporters will be hoping for more of the same this time out.

But they won’t be the only ones with Fashion Sakala’s family and friends back home in Zambia cheering on the Rangers and hoping their boy can make a major impression.

It’s not the first time Fashion Sakala has been in the press this week either, with the Zambian goading Celtic in the same interview.
