Les Ferdinand claims QPR won’t stand in the way if Michael Beale is approached by Rangers as the club reportedly looks to interview four candidates.

Former Gers assistant Michael Beale is in his first top job at Loftus Road, where Les Ferdinand is sporting director, and has begun turning heads south of the border.

But despite reaffirming his commitment to QPR amid interest from the likes of Premier League Wolves, Michael Beale is said to be interested in the position at Ibrox.

Rangers is a club close to the former Liverpool, Chelsea and Sao Paolo coach’s heart and Beale has been public in the past about his interest in one day managing the club.

The coach was viewed as the tactician behind Steven Gerrard’s Rangers side and many of the players still at Ibrox are familiar with his style and methods.

Les Ferdinand: Michael Beale free to speak to Rangers

Speaking to the Daily Record and journalists Andy Newport and Scott Burns, Les Ferdinand is clear that if Michael Beale is interested in Rangers and the club approach him, then QPR won’t stand in his way.

What’s more the report claims that Michael Beale is leading the chase to replace Giovanni van Bronckhorst and is directly interested in the role.

“I haven’t spoken to Michael or Rangers about this,” said Les Ferdinand.

But I expected Michael’s name would be mentioned for the role at Rangers because he did such a good job while he was up there working with Steven Gerrard.

“I don’t want to have to fight to keep anyone at QPR. I want people who want to be here. That’s the only way we can move forward.

“If they want to be somewhere else, that’s what they’re going to do. We’d have to have a conversation. It’s not that I’d be happy to have it but I only want people at the football club who want to be here.”

According to the Record report, it will cost £1m if Rangers want to move for Michael Beale.

The claims come after BBC journalist Kheredine Idessane claimed Rangers were looking to interview at least four candidates for the job.

The other individuals reportedly in the running are ex-Rangers manager Steven Gerrard, former Burnley boss Sean Dyche and Yokohama F Marinos coach Kevin Muscat.

The latter of which has been tipped to take the role by one former Ibrox star.
