Ex-Rangers manager Dick Advocaat has officially been appointed at Dutch second tier club ADO Den Haag – his 27th job in management at the club where he started his career in football.

The legendary Dutch manager might be the ripe old age of 75 but he’s clearly still got it as the former Ibrox boss replaces Liverpool legend Dirk Kuyt at the helm of the Eerste Divisie side.

The former Netherlands striker has ADO Den Haag in lowly 17th place with Dick Advocaat drafted in to try and turn things around after the World Cup break.

Coming out of his umpteenth retirement, the legendary former Netherlands, PSV, Rangers, Zenit, Sunderland, Belgium and South Korea boss – to name but a few – will now set about changing ADO Den Haag’s fortunes this season.

The former Rangers manager and Dutch footballer has also expressed his pride at returning to where it all began, with former midfielder Dick Advocaat spending seven years with the club at the start of his playing career in 1966.

“I will not deny that it is very special to return to ADO Den Haag,” said Dick Advocaat.

“It may come as a surprise to some that I will return as head coach on the Dutch fields. This opportunity, at the club where I have so many memories , I really couldn’t pass up.

“We all know the current sporting situation of the club and the goal we all have is very clear. At the moment ADO Den Haag needs better results.

“With full energy I will go therefore we will have to fight it until the end of the season and find our way back up as soon as possible.”

The appointment of Dick Advocaat at ADO Den Haag comes at a time when Rangers have just sacked one of the Dutchman’s former players in Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

Advocaat brought Gio to Ibrox during a three year stint at in Glasgow between 1998 and 2001 where the Dutch manager won two league titles, two Scottish Cups and a League Cup with Rangers.

Meanwhile, one Rangers fan has been sent into a frenzy following the appointment of Van Bronckhorst’s successor.
