Dutch legend Robin van Persie is set to turn out at Ibrox after all as Rangers announce a special Weekend of Legends II for March 2023.
Rangers have announced the much-loved Legends friendly will return on March 26th with Robin van Persie, Robbie Fowler, Jaap Staam, Joe Cole and Michael Essien already confirmed to attend.
The Rangers team will be captained by Barry Ferguson and is already set to include the likes of Jermain Defoe, Saša Papac, Kris Boyd and Michael Mols.
With many more names to come, the friendly is set to be played in front of yet another bumper Ibrox crowd and will likely attract attention from across the globe.
But already plenty of Rangers fans will be excited to see ex-Arsenal and Man United striker Robin van Persie turn out at Ibrox with the forward twice linked to the Gers in his career.
Van Persie himself has previously claimed that he almost joined Rangers in 2002 during his time at Feyenoord whilst there were majorly advantageous links to the player in 2016 during Mark Warburton’s tenure.
But whilst it never happened for Robin van Persie then, it looks the striker will get to walk out at Ibrox after all.
Robin van Persie headlines Rangers Weekend of Legends
The Gers support responded in their numbers to a Weekend of Legends match earlier in this year which saw a team of Rangers heroes take on a World XI in a special Ibrox encounter.
The weekend was also supplemented with a special Legends Dinner and the same will be the case this time around in what is quickly becoming a special yearly event.
That match saw the likes of Kaka, Luis Figo and Gheorghe Hagi turn out for the legends, with Ibrox legend Paul Gascoigne famously scoring in a 3-2 win for the World Legends.

Tickets for the upcoming Weekend of Legends clash are £18 for adults and £13 for concessions with the MyGers sale opening on the 19th December and the general sale on the 23rd. Read more HERE.
Meanwhile, a major Rangers injury blow has been softened by a change of Ibrox direction.
