The Rangers Charity Foundation has announced the return of the Big Ibrox Sleep Outs via the Rangers website.
The event brings supporters together in an attempt to fundraise for a selected charity which works with the city’s homeless community.
Participants are to sleep inside the stadium on a winter’s night, either on the pitch-side technical area or in the stands, for brief exposure to the hardships faced by many on a daily basis.

This year, the event will be held across the Friday 15 and Saturday 16 November (not the 16th and 17th as stated on the club website), with funds going to Glasgow City Mission.
Overall, the various stagings of the event have raised a whopping £175,000 for projects combatting homelessness.
“The Big Sleep Outs have helped raise awareness of the most disadvantaged in our city and, of course, raised very significant funds that allow the Mission to extend the opening of the Glasgow Winter Night Shelter for an extra month,” said Jack Geddes, Glasgow City Mission Fundraising Manager, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk.
“The incredible support of the Rangers’ fans through the Big Sleep Outs has literally saved lives. We look forward to meeting you in November and thanking you in person as we all work towards transforming lives in Glasgow.”
This is a fantastic initiative and given the previous success of the Sleep Outs, it’s no surprise there’s another edition this year.
It’s good to see the club opening the stadium up once more for charitable ends, and giving back to the community. Here’s hoping this year is the biggest yet.
