Rangers have announced that the club’s Women’s team will play the home leg of their Champions League clash with Benfica at Ibrox Stadium.

The first leg is scheduled to take place on 20th September at Ibrox with Rangers inviting supporters to buy tickets and cheer on the team in their first ever European foray.

Rangers have reached the 2nd round of the tournament after an impressive series of dipslays in the group format of the 1st round.

Rangers Women defeated PAOK and Ferencvaros, beating the Greeks 4-0 and Hungarians 3-1 to qualify for this clash with Benfica.

“We are delighted to have reached Round 2 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League for the first time in club history and are thrilled to host Benfica at Ibrox for the historic first-leg match,” reads a club statement [Rangers].

“The Light Blues will face the Campeonato Nacional Feminino champions over two legs with the winners guaranteeing their place in the Group Stage of the prestigious competition.

“The first-leg is scheduled to be played at Ibrox on September 20th and will be an outstanding moment for the squad to play in front of our devoted fans in their European journey.

“We can’t wait to hear Ibrox roar in your phenomenal backing as the squad gear-up for an exciting game.”

Season ticket holders and MyGers members can purchase tickets for the Rangers Women at a price of £7 per adult and £2 per child with General sale tickets priced at £10 per adult and £5 per child.

Hospitality packages are also available for the match and start at £30 plus VAT with a 30% discount also in place for anyone buying more than 20+ tickets.

MyGers members will also earn a point for attending the game.

This news is certainly a lot more positive than what’s going down with the men’s team at present as manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst comes in for heavy fire.
