Silky midfielder could soon be Rangers most valuable asset

Glen Kamara obviously doesn’t believe in taking time to settle in at a new club.
The midfielder has been superb for Rangers since securing a switch from Dundee on deadline day.

The position of his new team could scarcely be more different to what he’s been used to. At Dens Park, he and his teammates sat rock bottom of the SPL and needed to scrap for every point. Indeed, not much has changed there since he’s left, with relegation looking increasingly likely.
At Ibrox, he’s the midfield anchor for a team expected to force the issue. To dominate games and take all three points week in, week out.
It hasn’t always worked out that way this season, but with Kamara in the side, it’s happened much more often than not.

His performances so far, have left fans in disbelief at his transfer fee. A reported £50k [Daily Record].
It’s a nominal sum in the modern game, with the Gers undoubtedly benefitting from a contract which had just months left to run.

As of the last update on 3 January, Transfermarkt values him at £405k. However, surely his stock has already risen considerably since then.
It not just at Ibrox that he’s strutting his stuff. He’s establishing himself at international level too. He has nine senior caps for Finland and was outstanding during their recent Euro 2020 qualifiers.
He held his own against mighty Italy and
won Man of the Match away in Armenia.

Only going to get better

Therefore, we have a holding midfield player who in the space of a few months, has established himself as one of the first names on the team sheet for both club and country.

What’s more, Kamara is still only 23. He’s got several years before he reaches his prime. As former Gers striker, Iain Ferguson, said on the
Official Rangers Podcast, he looks like he’s been playing at Ibrox for years.
If he keeps going the way he is, he could soon be the club’s most valuable asset.
After all, accomplished, reliable defensive midfield players are like gold dust.
First and foremost, let’s hope he can help the Gers return to the summit of Scottish football. Then, in a few years time, the club could find themselves in line to make a substantial profit.
One thing is for sure, when the time comes, he’ll be going for millions, rather than thousands.
