Dundee’s Nathan Ralph is reportedly a target for Championship clubs Hull City and Barnsley, as well as League Two side, Bradford City [The Scottish Sun].
It’s said that the left-back is near certain to leave Dens Park this summer. The 26-year-old has activated a clause in his contract triggered by the Dundee’s relegation, which allows him to speak to other clubs.

With that in mind, Steven Gerrard should consider swooping for Englishman. Especially, if he’s available on a cut-price deal similar to that struck for Glen Kamara.
The manager is in a difficult position, as he spent a reported £2 million on Borna Barisic last summer [Daily Mail], but finds himself again once again in need of reinforcements for the left-back berth.
The injury-plagued Barisic was undoubtedly disappointing in his first season. However, he showed glimpses of real quality early on. Furthermore, he’s currently the first choice in his position for Croatia, the world’s no.5 ranked international team.

On that basis, he deserves another go next season. However, cover still needs to be brought in in case he experiences more struggles with either form or injury.
As well as Jon Flanagan did towards the back end of the season, and while Andy Halliday also held his own at times, it’s preferable to have both a natural left-footer and natural defender as the second port of call.
Potential squad addition
Ralph was part of a poor Dundee side last season. Yet, he’s a sprightly operator who gets forward on the overlap.
He’s rated at just £90k [Transfermarkt]. However, the reported interest in him from two Championship outfits shows there’s a player in there.

At 26, he should be coming into his prime and he has a knowledge of the SPL.
This wouldn’t be a marquee signing for the Gers. Yet, not all transfers need to be blockbusters.
Ralph would add depth to the squad and help provide cover in a position in which the club are currently light. If a cut-price deal is possible, Gerrard should definitely consider swooping.
