Many Rangers fans – this one included – could be made to eat their words as a resurgent Aaron Ramsey issues a defiant fitness statement and puts the focus firmly on silverware.
A frustrated Ibrox support gave the Gers board both barrels after the January transfer window as the club seen a six-point lead evaporate with Rangers now three behind in the Premiership.

In that time, none of the club’s January additions had made any tangible difference to the squad with James Sands and Mateusz Zukowski considered squad players and Amad Diallo flattering to deceive.
But the biggest and most frustrated groans were reserved for the six-month loan signing of Aaron Ramsey, who suffered a somewhat predictable injury blow that has prevented him getting up to speed.
A marquee signing and player of immense quality, there’s no doubt the Welshman has the ability to run riot in Scotland but as his stint at Juventus proves, it’s a question of fitness and not finesse with the midfielder.
These grumbles were justified as Rangers fans witnessed poor away performances after poor away performances with the league title – supposed to be a shoo-in – slipping from our grasp.
But the inclusion of the midfielder in the victory over Dundee this weekend came as a massive boost for the club with Aaron Ramsey looking fit, hungry and determined throughout.
Aaron Ramsey impresses Rangers fans in Dundee hammering
It was an impressive showing from the former Arsenal midfielder and if he can now pick up a head of steam for Rangers the Welshman can play a key role in the final eight league games.
Not only that, but with Scottish Cup and Europa League dreams still very much alive, Aaron Ramsey has silverware in his sights after playing 79 minutes in the 3-0 victory at Dens.
“It was good to get that amount of minutes under my belt again and hopefully I can build on this performance,” said Ramsey [Premier Sports].
“Am I ready to build a bit of momentum now? Yeah. We have a very talented team and we have done very well of late.
“Hopefully I can stay fit and build on this performance and show what I can do.
“For me personally, I am happy the way things have gone, now it’s time to build on this performance and have a strong end to the season.
“We have a massive week ahead (with the second leg of the Europa League tie against Red Star Belgrade) and we wanted to start well and we have.

“I wanted to compete for these trophies and it is another massive game on Thursday.
“This is one of the reasons I came to the club. It won’t be easy over there but we are looking forward to it.”
If Rangers and Aaron Ramsey can deliver trophies in the final part of the season, then you will see plenty of Ibrox supporters gladly eat their words after weeks of frustration.
Meanwhile, a once Rangers-linked international striker has made a revelation about a release clause following his relegation with a Euro top flight club.
