Former Rangers captain Lee McCulloch has spoken to the Glasgow Evening Times about the importance of Rangers vs Aberdeen fixtures.
The 40-year-old played for the Gers for eight years, between 2007 and 2015.
A utility player as capable of leading the line, as operating from the back, McCulloch played a key part in the club’s route back to the top tier of Scottish football.
Since then, he briefly held the manager’s role at Kilmarnock, and enjoyed a very short stint as assistant manager of Polish side, Lechia Gdansk.
Under Robbie Neilson, he is now strikers’ coach at Dundee United.
“Playing at Pittodrie is as close as you will get to an Old Firm game as a Rangers player”,

“It is hostile up there, there’s no doubt about that, and the Aberdeen supporters make their feelings known to the Rangers players.”
“But, as a player, that’s where your composure comes in. You have to blank all that out and concentrate on what happens on the pitch.”
Of course, that’s easier said than done.
However, the players showed they were capable of rising to a challenge, back in December.
Albeit in front of a partizan home support, the Old Firm was huge. Not only in the context of the league standings, but also psychologically.
If Rangers are to triumph in Aberdeen on Wednesday evening, McCulloch believes they will need to deliver a similar kind of performance.
