During Friday morning’s press conference, as followed by the Rangers Twitter account, Steven Gerrard revealed that James Tavernier and Jermain Defoe are doubts for Sunday’s clash with Aberdeen.
That could translate to good news for a currently out of favour star.
Borna Barisic.

The Croatian international missed the trips to Celtic and Hearts due to a hamstring injury. However, rather than walking straight back into the team as he had done earlier in the season, he has had to watch on.
After a remarkable change in circumstances, Jon Flanagan is now in possession of the left-back shirt.
However, if Tavernier does miss out against the Dons, there’s every chance Flanno will move to his preferred right-back.

That once again leaves left-back vacant for either Barisic or Halliday.
Furthermore, if Gerrard loses the attacking threat of his skipper, he will likely look to balance that up on the other side.
Barisic is a more attacking option than Halliday, which should work in his favour.
Of course, the manager could continue with Flanagan at left back and throw Matt Polster in on the right.

However, he only has five minutes under his belt as a Rangers player. Therefore, that would seem like an unnecessary risk.
Right now, we don’t know what the chances are of the captain making it. If he is to miss his first SPL game of the season, though, Barisic looks favourite to make a big Ibrox return in his stead.
