How many penalties have Rangers had this season?

Well, there are two sides in the Scottish Premiership who have been awarded the same amount of penalties as Rangers so far in the 2022/23 campaign.

At the time of writing, Rangers have received nine penalties in their 28 Scottish Premiership outings this season.

The Bears have scored eight of those nine penalties to give themselves a success rate of 88.9% from 12 yards.

Aberdeen have also been awarded nine penalties, whereas Hearts have also received nine spot-kicks in Scotland’s top-flight this term, as detailed by Transfermarkt.

In regards to the UEFA Champions League, Rangers were awarded one penalty in Europe’s leading club competition this season, which James Tavernier scored in the 3-1 defeat to Ajax in Matchday Six of Group A.

Rangers also received a penalty in the UEFA Champions League qualifying clash against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise, which the Gers won 3-0 with Tavernier again netting from 12 yards.

There have been no penalties awarded to Rangers in the Scottish League Cup this season, although the Gers did receive a spot-kick in the recent 3-2 Scottish Cup win over Partick Thistle, where Tavernier saw his effort saved by Jamie Sneddon.

In total, Rangers have received 12 penalties this season, missing two.

Plenty of rival supporters in Scottish football have often complained about how many penalties Rangers are awarded, but as you can see, the statistics show that Beale’s side do not actually receive the most spot-kicks in Scotland’s top-flight.
