They currently lie 18th in the table, just one point clear of the relegation zone. Contrastingly, Portsmouth sit in fourth spot, eyeing up promotion to the Championship.
The relegation battle is well and truly on for the Shrews. However, for Greg Docherty, his personal performances between now and the end of the season, take on extra significance.
He has just eight more matches in which to state his case for a Rangers spot under Steven Gerrard.
With the number of midfielders currently at Ibrox, it certainly won’t be easy.

However, the 22-year-old has had a strong season overall. Asked to go away, get game time and show he could hack it in a tough division, he’s made 42 appearances in all competitions.
He’s shown he can contribute in the final third, too. An overall tally of nine goals is impressive, as is a haul of eight league assists from 33 matches.
Surprisingly, the
£540k-rated midfielder was dropped for last week’s fixture against Wycombe. Yet, he came off the bench and set up a goal during a late comeback.
Docherty will surely feature from the start this time around and he should be extra motivated with the end of the campaign in sight.
A return to Ibrox beckons, but these last few performances might impact the role he gets to play, next season.
