During Friday afternoon’s press conference, as covered by the official Rangers Twitter account, Connor Goldson revealed he was fit to take on Kilmarnock on Saturday evening.
He admitted to feeling ‘finished’ after the midweek match at Pittodrie. Yet, he insisted he was ‘good to go’ again just a matter of days later.
The Aberdeen game was his first outing of 2019, having missed the first four fixtures due to an ankle problem.

That didn’t phase the defender though, as played the full 90 minutes in a big win.
The news that he has felt no adverse affects suggests that there will be no way back for a fan favourite, though.
Nikola Katic played three games on the bounce in Goldson’s absence. Rangers won all three, conceding just once along the way.
However, someone was always going to have to make way and despite his glaring error in the league encounter at Rugby Park, it’s Joe Worrall who has retained his place.

Considering the nature of the midweek win, it’s unlikely that Gerrard will break up the Goldson-Worrall partnership for the Cup tie.
That will come as a disappointment to many fans. Some of whom felt he was the only missing ingredient from the perfect starting XI at Aberdeen.
Yet, at least he is now genuinely in the running.

For a while, it looked as though the manager had a vendetta against his summer signing.
Eventually, that proved not to be the case, and with Gareth McAuley turning out for the Reserves in midweek, Katic may have moved up a notch to third choice in the pecking order.
