Gerrard should cash in if Rangers receive bids for £225k-rated outcast

If Rangers are to strengthen in the summer transfer window, it’s key that they sell on some fringe players in order to free up wages and boost the transfer kitty.
We’ve already suggested Kyle Lafferty as a candidate for an Ibrox exit.

Another player Steven Gerrard should look to cash in on is Joe Dodoo.
The 23-year-old forward spent the past season on loan at Blackpool. Ultimately, though, other than one purple patch in November, he struggled to make an impact.
Injuries played their part in a lack of form and the ex-Leicester City man netted just six times in 25 appearances for the Tangerines.

Ahead of next season, he has no realistic chance of featuring regularly, if at all, for the Gers. His last outing in the famous shirt came as a Scottish Cup substitute against Falkirk in March 2018.
With Morelos, Defoe, Lafferty and Dapo Mebude the current forward options and both Ryan Hardie and Zak Rudden returning from loan deals, Dodoo will be well down the pecking order.
Therefore, it makes sense for both the player and the club, that he’s moved on. His current Transfermarkt valuation is £225k, which isn’t massive but is still a decent sum for a player who’s surplus to requirements.
If any clubs come in with offers in that region, Gerrard would be wise to accept.
The squad is in real need of trimming ahead of next season and if Rangers are to bring in a sprinkling of quality, they’ll need all the funding they can find.
