As quoted by Rangers.co.uk, Steven Gerrard has provided a transfer update on the eve of a Europa League Qualifying tie in Luxembourg.
His side takes on Progres Niederkorn tomorrow evening, taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg. The Gers are missing just one senior player for the tie and the manager has an otherwise fully fit squad to choose from.

Judging by his comments this afternoon, it’s a squad he’s pretty much finished with strengthening.
“That is a possibility [further transfer business], but there’s no rush to do that,” said Gerrard, as quoted by Rangers.co.uk. “I think the squad is in a decent place at the moment so we will go with what we’ve got at the moment.”
“If something was to pop up which makes us better, and we think will make us better, we’ll take it to the board and the answer will be with them.”

Martin Skrtel to Rangers no more than a rumour?

Rumours of Martin Skrtel moving to Rangers have been swirling for months now. They have intensified in recent days, though, with Turkish outlet Fotomac claiming the Slovakian has told his friends he’s on the verge of a move. That report has since been picked up by national papers such as The Scotsman.

However, Gerrard’s comments suggest that there’s little truth to the story.
He’s admitted the Gers will be keeping an eye on the market over the coming weeks. That’s a slightly different scenario than a 103 cap international being on the verge of joining the club.
With Filip Helander and George Edmundson arriving this summer to join Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, there’s simply no need for another central defender.
It seems the manager sees it that way, too.
