Three Rangers youngsters nabbed a double as the Ibrox side’s U18s humbled their Elgin City equivalents in a 12-1 Scottish FA Youth Cup thrashing with nine different goalscorers.

The Gers now progress to the fourth round of the tournament and did so in emphatic fashion at the Rangers Training Centre.

This youthful side put in an inspired display to absolutely thrash their northern rivals in a comprehensive and confidence-boosting victory.

Captain for the day Mackenzie Strachan whipped in a corner to set up Greig Allen for the opener on 9-minutes before the skipper made it two around the 29-minute mark.

Robbie Ure made it 3-0 just two minutes later before Leyton Dunlop made it four 60 seconds later. Northern Irish youth international Ure added his second five minutes before half-time.

Rangers went into the break 5-0 up and came out with the same intensity that had see them roar into such an emphatic lead in the first 45.

Tyler Pasnik made it 6-0 10 minutes after the restart before Jack Roberts made it 7-0 on the hour mark, with Roberts adding his second only three minutes later to make it 8-0.

Eleven minutes later Kelsey Ewen made it 9-0 before Elgin made it 9-1 with around ten minutes to play.

But that consolation appeared to poke the Bear as Rangers responded with a late treble, Rory Wilson netting a double by scoring either side of a Kristian Webster goal.

It was an emphatic result for Cameron Campbell’s side and the U18s can now look forward to the next round of the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Rangers men’s team continue to find some form under Giovanni van Bronckhorst with one player’s performance catching the eye of supporters.
