Rangers starlet Leon King has sent a message to the club’s fans ahead of tonight’s high-profile UEFA Youth League fixture against Swedish youth champions Hammarby.

The 17-year-old has first-team experience after turning out in both the League Cup and the Premiership last season.

The B team’s acceptance into the Lowland League has given him an opportunity to play week in week out this season, though, and he’s been a key part of the side that’s competing at the top end of the table.

The chance to play in the UEFA Youth League is one that many Gers youngsters have been waiting for for some time after last season’s competition was cancelled due to the pandemic.

The wait is nearly over, though, with the first leg of a first round clash against Hammarby kicking off at 7:30pm at Dumbarton on Tuesday night.

Tickets are available for £7 for adults, and £4 for concessions and children.

Ahead of the game, King took to Twitter to encourage fans to attend.

“Come along and support the lads, would be good to see as many of you as possible,” he wrote, followed by blue heart and fire emojis.

Meanwhile, exciting young attacking talent Charlie Lindsay spoke to RangersTV to preview the match.

“We’re fairly excited, it’s something that has been in the back of our minds for a while with the competition getting cancelled last year,” he said [Rangers.co.uk].

“It’s a brilliant competition to be part of and we’re all really looking forward to the challenge playing against a tough opposition who will give us a different test to what we play weekly in Scotland.”

If the Young Gers can get beyond Hammarby, they’ll face either Bulgarian side PFC Septemvri Sofia or Akademia e Futbollit of Albania.

Meanwhile, a former Rangers Academy star is currently lighting up an overseas league.
