Rangers have reached a contractual agreement with a winger who has signed a deal potentially until the end of the 2027/28 season.

The deal is an initial one-year contract with the option to extend it by another year.

The Light Blues hold this option and can decide to trigger it whenever they want during the duration of the contract.

Lewis Stewart agrees Rangers extension after impressive Alloa Athletic spell

Rangers announced on Tuesday that they had reached an agreement with Lewis Stewart over a contract extension.

The winger had an impressive loan spell at Alloa Athletic last season, which played a huge role in him being handed a new deal.

He played 30 games for the Wasps, scoring three goals and providing twice as many assists last term.

This also saw him picking up the Player of the Year and Fans’ Player of the Year awards, showcasing just how vital he was to Alloa.

If Rangers are to sell Thelo Aasgaard, how much should he be sold for?

Having signed a new deal at Ibrox, Stewart expressed his delight at committing his future to the club.

He acknowledged just how important the loan spell last season was for his development.

The 19-year-old said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have extended my contract with the club.

“It’s a real honour to walk through those blue gates each and every day, and this club has been an important part of my life.

“Last season at Alloa was a really crucial step in my development, and I feel I’ve grown a lot as a player, but I know there’s still so much more hard work ahead and I’m fully focused on pushing on and improving even further.”

Will Stewart be making his senior debut under Derek McInnes?

Stewart signed a new deal at Rangers and will surely have been given some assurances about his future.

It remains to be seen if the plan is to loan him out once again or if he begins to train with the first team under Derek McInnes.

He has proven that he is ready for senior football and could be a useful squad player if he continues to develop with the first-team squad.

There is a very good chance that McInnes will give him game time in the Scottish League Cup.

Stewart has made the matchday squad for European games against Ferencvaros, Ludogorets, and Porto, so a debut is very much on the cards.
