Fans have moved to praise Rangers U16s, as the squad moved to within touching distance of their third piece of silverware in as many months.

In August, they clinched the prestigious SuperCupNI trophy after recording five victories in five days. In September, they scooped the Albim Cup in the Czech Republic.

Now, the Istria Youth Cup is in their sights.

The Young Gers put in a flawless group stage effort across three days this week, beating Benfica, LA Galaxy and Udinese to progress to the final.

They have earned themselves a day off tomorrow but will face Red Bull Salzburg in the final in Novigrad on Saturday at 1pm. It’s been suggested by the Rangers Youth Updates Twitter account, that the game will be streamed online.

Here’s a selection of reactions from social media:

Victory will clearly be the aim for the group, but just making it out of a group featuring some big names, can be seen as yet another achievement from the Gers Academy.

In recent times, the organisation just seems to be going from strength to strength.

Last season, we had the U17s winning the Alkass Cup in Qatar, the U18s beating Celtic to the Scottish FA Youth Cup and the Reserves clinching the SPFL league title.

So far in 2019/20, we’ve also seen the Colts punching above their weight and defeating three senior teams to reach the fourth round of the Caramel Wafer Cup.

The impressive feats keep coming then, and hopefully, we’ll see some of the promising talents responsible, breaking into the first team over coming seasons.
