The Rangers B side have completed their pre-season schedule with a comprehensive victory over a Burnley U23 squad.

The young Gers welcomed the English Premier League side’s youth team to the Rangers Training Centre before dumping them 4-2.

Burnley’s side was admittedly strewn with triallists, but Rangers took full advantage as they prepare to kick off next season in the Lowland League.

One of those triallists includes ex-Rangers midfielder Ciaran Dickson, who was back at the club;’s training centre in different colours amid reports of a falling out.

A double from Robbie Ure and goals from demoted winger Jake Hastie and Charlie Lindsay won the day for the Ibrox club’s youth side ahead of what promises to be an exciting season for them.

The Burnley result also comes after an impressive 2-1 pre-season Rangers B victory over League One Clyde over the weekend.

The young Gers will kick off their Lowland League campaign at home to Bo’ness United this coming Saturday (17/07).

Rangers B will also play their matches at the Dumbarton Football Stadium with a limited number of tickets going on sale as per Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions [Rangers].

Rangers are sizeable advocates of the B team model and alongside Old Firm rivals Celtic have been pushing the idea across the SPFL over the last few years.

However, both clubs were left disappointed after they lost an indicative vote on potential league reconstruction which would admit two “Colts” sides.

The 12-12-12-12 proposals would’ve seen the division grow from 42 teams to 48 over the course of three seasons.
