Rangers have offered an Academy chance to budding analyst Caio Miguel Pontes who has links to both Brazil and Argentina in South America.

The young would-be coach was announced by the club’s Academy this week in a move that will see the ex-Stirling Albion talent spotter join the Gers youth development set-up.

Caio Miguel took to Twitter to announce the move that will see him join the Rangers Academy set-up as an intern in the performance analysis department.

Caio Miguel tweeted:

“I’m extremely happy to share that I’ll be starting a new position as an Academy Intern in the Performance Analysis department at Rangers FC. Time to work harder than ever!!”

The move also comes after Caio Miguel – who is a student at Stirling University – spent the season working with Stirling Albion, who earned promotion to League One.

The analyst also spent time working with the Stirling University Women’s team, who have managed to retain their SWPL 2 status this season.

Looking at the aspiring young coach and analyst’s journey on LinkedIn, Caio Miguel has also spent time working with Vélez Sarfield in Argentina as a video scout.

Miguel is fluent in Portuguese and has spent time living in Brazil, the USA and Scotland, whilst by his own admission he is an “aspiring football coach and analyst” who is working on his badges through the Scottish FA.

Caio Miguel follows top coaching talents into Rangers

Whilst this is clearly a big move for Caio Miguel, Rangers fans will note the club working to snap up the best young coaching talent alongside the best young players.

That the club have identified the would-be analyst is a testament to his early career success and let’s hope he can build on it within the walls of the Rangers Training Centre.

Rangers have also overseen the development of U18s coach Cameron Campbell in recent seasons, the highly-rated young coach having developed his knowledge in Ghana and Denmark.

Campbell’s stock continues to rise and the youngster recently spoke to the Herald about his experiences in an extensive and notable interview by Chris Jack.

Developing a love of coaching at 18, the youngster’s journey has similarities to that of the ambitions of Caio Miguel and it’s good to see Rangers handing out opportunities on and off the park.

Gers fans will wish Caio Miguel all the very best as the Rangers academy and development department look to continue nurturing top talent on and off the park.
