The Rangers B team have defeated Lowland League side Open Goal Broomhill 5-2 with UEFA Cup Finalist Kirk Broadfoot turning out for the controversial side.
Open Goal Broomhill are in the midst of a partnership with popular YouTube platform Open Goal and are currently being led by host and ex-Celtic youth Simon Ferry.
As part of the partnership, there are a series of fly-on-the-wall episodes related to the club’s journey in the Lowland League and the move has courted some controversy regarding the seriousness of football in the fifth tier.
Not that the inclusion of the Rangers B team is without comment; the Gers, Old Firm rivals Celtic and Edinburgh outfit Hearts all have teams in the league despite furious resistance across the country.

Nonetheless, the Rangers B team met Open Goal Broomhill in Dumbarton this week and ran out 5-2 winners courtesy of a goals from Robbie Ure (2), Bailey Rice and Aaron Lyall (2).
The result keeps the Rangers B team top of the Lowland League, five points clear of the University of Stirling having played a game less.

The inclusion of Kirk Broadfoot in the match will also turn a few heads at Rangers given his prominent history with the club under the late, great Walter Smith.

Signed from St Mirren in 2007, Kirk Broadfoot played for Rangers until 2012 and even played the entire match as the club lost 2-0 in the UEFA Cup Final to Zenit St Petersburg in Manchester.
Joining Open Goal Broomhill in the summer, Kirk Broadfoot continues to play at 38 but was given the runaround by the Rangers B team on Lowland League duty.
Meanwhile, Rangers face having to ring-fence up to £11.1m after yet another lawsuit was launched against the club.
