A former Rangers winger has just finalised a move to a fourth-tier club in Scotland, two years after sealing his Ibrox exit.

The Gers’ academy has produced a number of talented players in recent years, and there have also been some quality youngsters who have been signed from elsewhere to go on and achieve good things either in Glasgow or elsewhere.

However, the Light Blues have also made mistakes with their recruitment, and players have left by making little to no impact.

How will you remember Jack Butland for his time as the Rangers number one?

Kieron Willox seals move to Scottish League Two club Elgin City

Elgin City announced, via their X handle, on Saturday, that they had secured the services of Kieron Willox.

The 20-year-old winger moved to the Scottish League Two side, the country’s fourth tier, on a one-year contract.

Willox played as a trialist on Tuesday this week, and he impressed the decision-makers, who decided to secure his services on a permanent basis.

If Rangers are to sell Thelo Aasgaard, how much should he be sold for?

He parted ways with Stoke City at the end of June, meaning that he will be moving to Elgin on a free transfer.

The deal is still to be approved by the SFA, but apart from that, everything has been finalised and confirmed.

Prior to joining Stoke, the Scotsman was at Rangers, parting ways with the Ibrox outfit in July 2024.

What was Willox’s time at Rangers like?

The 20-year-old may not be a household name among the Rangers fanbase, but his move to the fourth tier of Scottish football just two years after he was at the 55-time champions was a bit of a reality check.

The Gers secured his services back in June 2022, recruiting him from Inverness Caledonian Thistle, a club he had been with since 2016.

Willox spent two seasons with the Light Blues, initially being part of the Under-18s squad.

What are your expectations for Dan Neil at Rangers next season?

He was deployed as a winger as well as a midfielder, and while he performed decently, he was far from being a standout player.

The Scotsman managed to work his way up through the ranks, but made just one official appearance for the B Team in the Lowland League.

However, the first team was a step too far for him, and he did not even get called up by managers to train with the seniors.
