Danny Rohl will need another midfielder for the first team if Bailey Rice leaves Rangers at the end of the season.
Aston Villa have opened talks to sign Rice, who will be a free agent once his contract runs out in June.
The 19-year-old is yet to feature under Danny Rohl as he has been injured since the German took over the reins.
Will Rangers sack Danny Rohl if they fail to win the league?
If he goes, who would be a good replacement for him?
Paul Nsio could be the ready-made replacement for Bailey Rice
Paul Nsio could be the perfect replacement for Rice after his award-winning campaign on loan at Raith Rovers.
The Gers loaned out the 20-year-old as they believe he has first-team potential, but wanted him to play regularly this season.
That certainly has happened as he has shone at Rovers, winning four awards in the 2025/26 campaign.

At the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony, Nsio was voted as the Young Player of the Year and Supporters’ Bus Player of the Year.
He also received the Malcolm Szpera Award for the growth he has shown on and off the pitch since his move in the summer.
The Scottish Championship side also handed him the Best Individual Performance award for his display in a 3-1 win over Airdrieonians in March.
Would Rangers have won the league if they signed Lawrence Shankland instead of Youssef Chermiti?
What Nsio can bring to this Rangers side
Nsio is an energetic midfielder with an engine on him, so he’s capable of running up and down the field tirelessly.
He is good at winning duels and is known to be aggressive on and off the ball.
Even though he excels in his physical attributes, Nsio has been labelled a flair player for his guile and creativity.
The 20-year-old is skilful, two-footed, and capable of beating opposing players in 1v1 situations.
Nsio also has the vision to play line-breaking passes, which will help Rangers against teams that like to stay compact.
At the youth level, he has played as a centre-back as well as a right-back, so his versatility will come in handy should Rohl seriously take a look at him.
The English midfielder already made his first-team debut aged 16 in a 3-1 win over Queen of the South in the Scottish League Cup.
