Rangers fans have every reason to be excited about a certain Callum Burnside coming up the ranks at Ibrox.

The owners have made it clear why youth development is important at Rangers, and it would be something that would please Danny Rohl and his coaching staff, too.

Callum Burnside scores stellar goal for Rangers U-19s vs Motherwell U-19s

Burnside was on loan at Alloa Athletic, but he returned to the club this winter and has now been featuring for the Under-19s.

The left winger was in action for them in the 3-0 win against the Motherwell Under-19s side on Monday, and he found the back of the net as well.

However, what was more impressive about his goal was the way he managed to score it, as it showed maturity and also the composure needed to work the ball out of a tight situation.

The 18-year-old received the ball on the edge of the opposition penalty area, and controlled it with his right foot before making a lovely turn to take the ball into the penalty area.

That move left the defender marking him completely out of position and gave Burnside the opportunity to go one-on-one with the keeper.

He made no mistake in slotting the ball into the back of the net, and the club then uploaded a video of the goal on X.

How does Burnside’s style of play fit into Danny Rohl’s system?

Burnside, despite being 18, shows the maturity of someone who has a few years of experience playing the game at the senior level.

As he started his youth career as a holding midfielder, his passing is impressive, and now that he has transitioned into an inside forward/left winger, he can be creative, along with being a goal threat.

The footage above shows that he’s capable of dribbling past opponents and holding his composure in front of goal.

Playing at the senior level is undoubtedly a different ball game, but he is already showing why he has the attributes that Rohl would like.

Given how he has been performing, Rohl could even call him up to first-team training within a few months, as that will give him a better understanding of how he fares compared to the other senior players
