Robby McCrorie has reviewed his experience out on loan and commented on his future ambitions, as quoted by the Scottish Herald.
The Scotland U21 goalkeeper spent the second half of the season with Greenock Morton in the Championship.
He established himself as the no.1 stopper at Cappielow and made 15 league appearances. Furthermore, despite the Ton struggling at times, he registered six clean sheets, including three in his final three outings.
Now, back at Ibrox, he feels the experience improved him as a player.
“The loan went very well and I enjoyed my time at Morton,” said McCrorie, as
“In terms of the clubs in the league, it’s very competitive. That’s what I needed; I needed games that would be a challenge, and I feel, come the end of the loan, I was comfortable at that level.
“Being at Morton for six months benefitted me a lot, especially being in an environment where we were under pressure for a wee while. It was in our own hands, but we were under pressure to pick up points.
“I felt that I came through that period and it stands me in good stead for the future. If I want to be a Rangers No.1 in future, I need to be able to handle pressure, so it has been really important for me.”
Verdict
It’s great to hear McCrorie speaking of his ambition to push on and succeed at Ibrox.
He could be about to earn a promotion, too. The Scottish Sun reports that both Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick are likely to leave the club in the summer. Back in April, the Evening Times also claimed Foderingham would depart at the end of the season.
In that case, McCrorie would likely become Allan McGregor’s back-up, ahead of Andy Firth.
Therefore, there’s every chance we’ll see a lot more of this promising youngster, next season.
