Daniel Candeias spoke to the media after Rangers draw with Villarreal and had nothing but good things to say about the Rangers fans.
The Portuguese was one of the better things left behind by Caixinha’s legacy.
Along with Morelos, the winger has been a solid option for Rangers since last year. He even won last season’s Player of the Year award.
Daniel Candeias said:
“We’ll take that great result for us and keep going,” he said. “When the team believes, it is perfect.
“When you play together as a family, it is fantastic and the supporters came here tonight and were great too.
“In all the games, the supporters are very, very important and I think tonight they were the 12th player. It is a huge well done to the supporters.”
Candeias was a journeyman before Rangers
Daniel Candeias had a huge 12 clubs before joining Rangers. Nine of those were on loan whilst he was contracted to Porto, Nacional and Benfica.
The 30-year-old’s career had taken him across Portugal and to Spain, Germany, France and Turkey.
The very definition of a journeyman, the versatile forward arrived to muted expectations. But on his heart and commitment alone, what a signing the Portuguese has been.
He contributed six goals in 38 appearances last season and also notched nine assists.
He was a key part of a struggling squad, but never dropped his levels or got complacent.
The winger has worked for his place in Gerrard’s team and he’ll struggle to lose it.
He is a player who needed a home before Rangers.
Rangers gave him it and now the winger is prepared to give everything for the club.
And now Candeias gets it.
