Rangers Women star Bala Devi has been named the All-Indian Football Federation’s (AIFF) Fan’s Player of the Month for December after becoming the first Indian to score in the top-flight of a European league.

The 30-year-old became India’s first female professional footballer when she moved to Ibrox 12 months ago and ended the year with her first league goal for the club in the 9-0 thrashing of Motherwell.

Devi’s goal came in the final stages of the resounding win over ‘Well, getting on to a through ball from midfield and slotting the ball low into the net five minutes before full-time.

The Indian star has scored more than 50 goals in an international career spanning over a decade and also formerly captained the side before her move to Scotland.

Rangers have been in fantastic form this season in SWPL and sit atop the table after seven games – leading Glasgow City on goal difference before the season was temporarily suspended earlier this week.

With only a third of the season completed so far, there is still plenty of football to play but the Gers will be hoping to finally end City’s domination of the domestic game.
