Rangers confirm new deal for Lizzie Arnot after 26 goals in 31 games this season

Rangers have confirmed that Lizzie Arnot has signed a new deal to extend her stay at the club after an outrageous 26 goals and 21 assists in 31 appearances across all competitions this season as the Gers won the SWPL1 title.

Arnot was a huge part of Malky Thomson’s side as they romped to an Invincible title triumph ahead of the women’s sides joining the SPFL and kicking off a new era.

The former Man United star, who scored the Old Trafford women’s side’s first-ever competitive goal, is looking forward to the Light Blues’ crack at the Champions League next season after two brilliant years at Rangers.

“I am really grateful and really pleased that I can extend my stay here,” Arnot said [Rangers TV]. “I have loved the two years that I have been here, we have had different challenges along the way but it is a great club to be part of.

“I can play here with freedom and enjoyment and obviously that is credit to the girls as well. The style of play is great and it really suits my style. I love being here and the fact I can contribute with goals and assists is even better.”

Head coach Malky Thomson was delighted to see Arnot extend her time at Ibrox as he praised the Scotland international’s stunning contribution to Rangers’ title success, adding: “I am really delighted that Lizzie has signed a contract extension with the club. She is a huge part of our squad and made a massive contribution last season.

“As we head into a new and exciting 2022/23 campaign, which includes UEFA Women’s Champions League football for the first time, Lizzie’s experience will be vital as we continue to push the squad.”

Arnot becomes the third Rangers star to sign a new deal in recent days, with Nicola Docherty and Jenna Fife extending their contracts.
