Rangers outcast Jak Alnwick facing Ibrox exit as loan comes to an end

Rangers outcast Jak Alnwick looks destined for an Ibrox exit in January when his five-month loan deal with Scunthorpe United comes to an end.
The former Newcastle United youngster was shipped out earlier in the season after falling down the pecking order.

With Allan McGregor in fantastic form between the sticks, Alnwick’s Ibrox career appears to be coming to an imminent end.

Having Wes Foderingham and Robby McCrorie in reserve make a return seem even more unlikely.
Alnwick joined the Gers in 2017 but has struggled to hold down a regular place, making only 11 appearances.

A run of games at the end of the 2017/18 season didn’t do much to strengthen Alnwick’s claim for a regular starting spot at Ibrox and there seems little likelihood that his spell at Glanford Park – where he has conceded 42 times in 24 games – will have done anything to convince Steven Gerrard that he can displace McGregor as the Gers’ number one.

Despite spending a reported £250,000 to lure Alnwick north, there appears to be little chance of a reprieve.
Alnwick has 18 months left on his contract at Ibrox but it would make sense to look at moving on.
