Back in December 2019, the Scottish Sun suggested Celtic were plotting a £3.2m move for the 5ft 9″ midfielder.
Steven Gerrard claimed on Wednesday that the Gers have been doing plenty of research on potential transfer targets amid the global health crisis [talkSPORT].
Perhaps Dorsch is one of those on the radar.
The midfielder came through the ranks at Bayern, making over 50 appearances for the second string.
He didn’t quite manage to make a permanent step up to the first team, but he did make one start in the Bundesliga, scoring in a 4-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in April 2018.
He’s since established himself as a key player at Heidenheim, appearing in 23 of their 25 league fixtures so far this season, helping them to fourth place in the table, just three points off a play-off spot.
Amid Rangers’ wretched run of form in domestic competition in early 2020 there was a lack of dynamism in midfield, and perhaps Gerrard thinks Dorsch would provide more energy and legs to the engine room.
Given that he’s plying his trade in the German second-tier and that his contract only has a year left to run, he shouldn’t cost the earth, but would he have enough quality?
